Cancer

So how did this all start? It was extremely sudden, I felt fine on Wednesday April 25 I had a slight pain in my abdomen when, for example Braden climbed on me but it wasn't bad so I just ignored it. Then on Thursday the 26 I went to work and felt fine, I had slight discomfort in the process of sitting down and standing up but felt normal once I was up or down. Then 3 o'clock came and I left saying that I would see my work friends that night because we were to go and see a movie. I stepped off the curb and I had instant pain, I was barely able to make it to my car. Once in my car I thought call one of your friends to drive you home but I'm stubborn about certain things and I lived 5 minutes away so why bother anybody I could drive for 5 minutes. So I get home and I am hunched over in pain, I opened the garage and went to open the door to the house and one of my kids had locked the door. My hands were shaking so bad I couldn't even grab my keys to unlock it, so I'm banging on the door and Aaliya opens it. She asks whats wrong and I tell her I don't know. So she goes up stairs and tells Grandma that something is wrong with me, so Grandma comes down stairs and asks if I need to go to the emergency room and I didn't know I could hardly think. So we get to the emergency room and I can't even feel out the paper work I can't concentrate so Grandma does that as well. They take me back and have me undress to put on a gown and I thought I was going to pass out and throw up, but I made it. At this point Patrick had made it to the emergency room from Ogden I think he did it in record speed. At first they thought maybe my appendix burst so they took me back for a CT scan but my appendix were fine but they did see something on my left ovary. But CT scans are not meant for ovaries so at this point they have given me morphine and I was pretty out of it I don't remember half of the things that I said to people. Then they take me back for an ultrasound and they found a 5 inch mass on my left ovary but its not the same consistency as a cyst. I guess a cyst has a ballon type feel and mine had hard masses on it. So they called up to Huntsman Cancer Institute to see if they had room for emergency surgery. But they didn't so I ended up at the University Hospital, we got up there around 12 a.m. and they don't know what the mass is so they take me back for  surgery at 2 a.m. Afterwards I found out that the mass had burst and that is what they think caused me all that pain, they removed the mass and my left ovary. They told Patrick that it has low possibilities for cancer but they were going to do more tests. They let me go home Friday night around 6 p.m. About a week later I got the phone call saying that they found cancer. The doctor was heading out of town for a conference and didn't want me waiting all weekend and calling someone only to find out that they wouldn't give me any answers. So we met with the doctor Mark Dodson who did my surgery on Tuesday May 8 and he told us that I have stage 1c grade 2 ovarian cancer and the plan is that we have to do another surgery in about 4 weeks to make sure that the cancer isn't spreading. He wants me to have a hysterectomy but he also said that if I want to have more kids he can leave it as long as it doesn't look like cancer is on the right ovary. He said the most likely place that it could come back would be on my ovary which makes sense. Then about 4 weeks after my next surgery I will start chemotherapy and have 3 to 6 rounds just depending on what he finds out from the surgery.
So what are we going to do? We would really like to have at least one more kid so we are opting for leaving my right ovary as long as it doesn't look cancerous. The dr. does recommend that as soon as we are done having kids to have a hysterectomy. However he does say that we will have to wait a year after we are done having chemotherapy. So that will put Braden at about 5 before we could welcome another baby which is not the age span that I wanted but I will just be grateful if we are allowed to have another baby. I'm trying to come to the realization that I will have no hair after chemotherapy, I know that it shouldn't be a big deal but when your a hairdresser it kind of rotates around my life. I'm feeling okay about everything, I'm glad that we were able to catch the cancer early. And if you look at the signs for ovarian cancer they are very vague, they call it the silent killer because you really don't even know that its there until its to late.http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ovarian-cancer/ds00293/dsection=symptoms I'm grateful for all my friends and family and for all of there prayers they are felt and I appreciate it. I will get through this and stay positive during this whole ordeal, and I will try to keep this updated for people I'm not really good at the whole blogging thing.
